November President’s Report

by Helen Hansen, WUU Board President

Fall is at its best this week. Beautiful colors, cooling temperatures, and election excitement. Our 100% Voting sign hanging at the entrance to WUU is one important way to advertise our commitment to democracy.

Eleven children have been enjoying religious education classes for the past three weeks. Their chalice lighting says it all: “We are Unitarian Universalists, with minds that think, hearts that love, and hands that are ready to serve. Together we are for the earth. And we work for friendship and peace in our world.” Donna Stanford, our Religious Education Committee Chair, will be delighted to talk to you about volunteering to enjoy time with our young people on Sunday mornings.

Our commitment to economic justice is sorely needed right now. As you know, many of our neighbors have lost jobs and SNAP benefits. Please do what you can to help. Rather than ask for donations as a Share the Plate, here are some local organizations that provide food assistance and services but are overwhelmed at this time. Your direct donations will be welcome.

Parker House renovations are going well. Please thank Les Solomon and his Campus Improvement Team (CIT) for their extraordinary efforts and the saving of many thousands of dollars.

Winter Shelter at WUU November 23 – 30 will be managed by Community of Faith Mission at WUU. WUU will provide volunteers November 30-December 7. Sign up in the Spiral.
