Summer Events for Children & Youth

Our summer Religious Education (RE) program blends relaxed Sunday gatherings, outdoor adventures, and opportunities for connection and exploration.

On Sunday mornings, children and youth are invited to our 10:00 am services. On select Sundays at 10:00 am, one-room Sunday RE classes will be offered as well, with stories, activities, and themes tied to UU values.

We are planning special Wednesday outings throughout June, July, and August—everything from kite-flying and canoeing to berry picking and service projects. These are great chances for children and families to connect in nature and in community. We'll also welcome new rising youth in late August and host a few fun evening events like movie night and indoor play at WISC.

Register for RE to join our mailing list and receive calendar updates and volunteer opportunities as we move through the season. All are welcome to participate and help us create meaningful, joyful experiences for our kids.

Summer Sunday Morning Schedule

In addition to our Wednesday outings and other special events, children and youth are invited to attend our Sunday morning services at 10:00 am all summer long. In addition, we will offer one-room RE classes on select Sundays throughout the summer. Children and youth are invited to join us for meaningful stories, hands-on activities, and Unitarian Universalist values in action on the following Sundays from 10:00-11:00 am:

  • June 1

  • July 6

  • August 3

  • September 7

Want to Get Involved?

We are always looking for assistants for Sunday classes and outings. Interested in helping? Contact Austen Petersen, Director of Religious Education, at austen@wuu.org for more information.

Unitarian Universalism draws from many Sources, among them:

  • Direct experience of that transcending mystery and wonder, affirmed in all cultures, which moves us to a renewal of the spirit and an openness to the forces that create and uphold life

  • Spiritual teachings of earth-centered traditions, which celebrate the sacred circle of life and instruct us to live in harmony with the rhythms of nature

  • “Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.”
