What is the WUU Befriender Program? (Welcome and Connect!)

Membership committee program to guide new and existing members toward belonging. Pairs members with seasoned members to foster friendships, connections, and help new members feel welcome, connected, and engaged in WUU life. Pilot program focused on connecting new members.

Who is the program for? New members or current members who would like to be paired with a seasoned member to help with connections, and getting engaged in WUU life.

WUU Befriender Volunteer role:

● Welcome member with a note, phone call, or meeting within 10 days of new member signing book or being connected with current member. Invite member to sit with you at next service.

● Meet in person after Sunday service or as soon as possible (example: invite person for coffee or to attend WUU event, etc).

● Find out what member is seeking or interested in and connect with appropriate persons or committees. Encourage participation in faith development classes and social events like potlucks and circle gatherings. Offer to attend event with member.

● Connect with member monthly for at least six months.

● Provide brief periodic updates to Befriender committee.
