Community Crockpot Ministry
Help provide nourishing meals to folks living long-term in local motels and hotels.
When folks in hotels sign up for the program, they receive a slow-cooker and a kitchen kit that includes a can opener, cooking utensils, measuring spoons, a paring knife, a cutting board, etc. This allows them to prepare healthy and filling meals for their families.
How WUU members can help
Sign up to provide ingredients for meals that can be made in the hotel rooms and drop them off in a bag at the hotels. Every other Thursday, two meal bags are delivered to each room. (You only need to sign up for one of the slots, but you can do more than one room.)
When putting the ingredients together, please include everything required in the recipe. For instance, if the recipe calls for a cup of rice, place a cup of rice in a sandwich bag that seals. The same goes for condiments, herbs and spices. There are refrigerators in their rooms for the meat and fresh veggies.
Extra—not required but very welcome… Please feel free to add dessert or a salad!
HOWEVER…. BE SURE TO INCLUDE A COPY OF THE RECIPE!
Use the volunteer link below to sign up. The sign up also includes any dietary restrictions, how many people are in the room, and where to drop off the bag. Most of the hotels are fine with you dropping them in the lobby/office area. Be sure to label your bag with the room number for which you are providing the meal.
