Religious Education for Children & Youth

Sundays are for FAMILY!

Sundays have historically been the one day a week that families can gather and rest. A true Sabbath is when everyone can feel at peace and relax and spend meaningful time together. At Williamsburg UU, we strive to make our Sundays a gathering opportunity for all ages, whether a family of one or a hundred-and-one, with programs that provide a restful, encouraging, and supportive structure for all to enjoy.

We start out each Sunday service at 10 AM all together in the Main Sanctuary to participate in meaningful ways as a congregation of all ages. This time helps children and youth discover practices and better understand what Beautiful Community looks and feels like. We also create special services with a multi-generational focus that are kid-friendly and interactive. Stay tuned to The Spiral, our weekly e-newsletter, for announcements. Older students/teens are also always welcome to stay for the whole service with their families or come out to the Gathering Hall if they prefer.

WUU Education programs start about halfway through the service and aim to be a time and space that feels safe and welcoming and a TON OF FUN. We want our kids and youth to be excited about coming and eager to be part of a learning community here. Our weekly sessions for Fall 2026 are based on Soul Matters curriculum with engaging conversations and activities to help students better understand what we do at WUU and our connectedness to each other as we start a new season. Our fall themes are September: Beginnings, October: Courage, November: Healing, and December: Awe.

Please note: stated age ranges are flexible according to each child's needs and interests, and students can be placed as appropriate. Please contact Robin Jester Wootton, Director of Religious Education, to discuss if you have any concerns.
