Close Encounters on the Boomer Journey
Senior Companions will meet 10-11:30 am on Monday, May 11, in the Gathering Hall.
This will be a BYOBeverage coffee klatch, with an extended check-in focused on sharing our encounters with pivotal events in our lives. Each of us will be invited to share two kinds of stories about the path of his/her life: one historical and one entirely personal. (1) Recall at least one widely known historical event in your lifetime that significantly affected your path, for good or ill. Describe the personal context (e.g. your age, situation or place) and tell the group the importance of it to your development Examples: assassination of JFK; Apollo 13. (2) Share a life-altering experience you had, after which it seemed "life was never quite the same” for you. Describe what happened and how it changed the course of your journey. Examples: an untimely loss or death; winning a high-stakes competition or promotion. Hopefully there will be time for crosstalk and follow-up.
