Social Justice News March 2026

Happy March, Spring, Warmth and all things Green!

March is Women’s History Month. Check out the League of Women Voters’ displays at the Williamsburg Library.

Women’s Day is March 8th, 2026, under the theme, “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls,” calling for action to dismantle all barriers to equal justice: discriminatory laws, weak legal protections, and harmful practices and social norms that erode the rights of women and girls. Below are some links to various groups supporting women’s rights.

One way we can continue to work towards closing this gap is to make sure we are voting for candidates who will help continue the fight.

“You’ve got to vote, vote, vote, vote. That’s it; that’s the  way we move forward.”
— Michelle Obama, attorney, author, and First Lady of the United States from 2009 to 2017

“It's not enough to just want change ... You have to go and make change by voting."
— Taylor Swift, singer-songwriter and country-pop star

In February, WUU contributed $1,231 to Olde Towne Medical and Dental Center. Thank you to all who gave!

We welcome nominations of recipients for our Share the Plate program. We focus on local, non-profit, "hands-on" groups of a size where our donations could "move the needle" in their activities. Send a suggestion with brief description to stp@wuu.org.
