January President’s Report

by Helen Hansen, WUU Board President

The energy and enthusiasm at WUU continues to increase as the federal government becomes more unjust and authoritarian. Each Sunday our attendance grows as people in the community recognize that at WUU we speak for justice.

Many thanks to Rev. Jude and the worship and music teams for honest and insightful Sunday services and to the congregation for believing that love is power and is present at the center of our shared values. Gratitude to Robin Wootton, our Director of Religious Education, dedicated teachers, and an enthusiastic RE Committee for revitalizing our RE program. Please contact Robin for more information.

The Board is working with Rev. Jude and others on developmental goal #2: “Find the right size and structure for our present and future.” That includes working with Stewardship, Endowment and Finance teams to insure financial stability into the future. The generosity of the congregation is key to realizing that goal. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for more information and inspiration.

The Nominating Committee has been interviewing many of you to fill leadership positions in the coming year. Thank you to all who have agreed to put your names forward for a congregational vote Feb. 15. I encourage all members to stay after the service for that important congregational meeting.

Save the dates: Annual Giving kickoff Feb. 8 and gratitude luncheon Mar. 29, RE teacher and family orientation Feb 22, WUU Auction April 18, Tidewater Cluster gathering at WUU April 25, League of Women Voters Great Decisions at WUU on Tuesdays, Feb. 3-March 24.
