Children’s Religious Education Update
Children’s Religious Education Update from Our Board-Appointed RE/LFD Task Force
We are excited to share the new developments of our Religious Education programming for children. We now have a dedicated team of teachers ready to guide our 4th through 6th graders using the Toolbox of Faith curriculum. This engaging program will help our upper elementary children explore and reflect on the qualities of our UU faith in a supportive and nurturing environment. Additionally, we will offer childcare for our pre-K children during our classes, ensuring that our littlest ones are well cared for while their siblings and caregivers are engaged in their faith development.
Simultaneously, we have a search team of Rev. Jude, Susan Walkley, and Rachel Delbos currently in the first week of our search for a half-time Director of Religious Education. Once filled, this key role will help shape and enhance our educational offerings, and we are hopeful we will find the right person to lead our RE program.
We are continuing to recruit teachers for K through 3rd grade and middle school classes. If you have a passion for teaching (whether or not you have experience) and a desire to help inspire our youth, we would love to hear from you. Please reach out via email (retaskforce@wuu.org) if you are interested in joining our team of educators.
Toolbox of Faith classes for 4th through 6th grade and childcare will begin on October 19. We hope to also start the K through 3rd grade class at that time (assuming we can recruit another teaching team by then).
We encourage you to register your children on Sunday mornings or through the online registration form that will be sent to families in the coming week. We will continue to hold the space for children to sit and work with quiet activities during the service.
Thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm as we build a vibrant and meaningful Religious Education program together. Let’s nurture our children’s spiritual journeys with love and energy!
With warmth and excitement,
Your RE/LFD Task Force
