WUU Spearheaded a Postcard Campaign That Sent 7,590 Get Out the Vote Postcards for the November 3 Election – Thank You!
As part of WUU’s Social Justice and UU the Vote work, our congregation coordinated a 2026 Reclaim Our Vote postcard campaign that resulted in 7,590 nonpartisan Get Out the Vote postcards being written to voters in the Chesterfield area.
The campaign brought together 118 participating individuals and groups. Volunteers contributed their time, handwriting, and postage, while WUU organized the effort, purchased the postcard materials, and coordinated distribution.
This work fits directly within UU the Vote’s broader commitment to strengthening democratic participation and helping more people have a voice in our shared civic life.
Participants included members and friends of WUU, the League of Women Voters of Williamsburg Area, YJCW NAACP, Grace Episcopal Church in Yorktown, Williamsburg JCC Indivisible, Bruton Parish Church, All Together Williamsburg, Voices of Faith in Action at KirkWood Presbyterian Church in Yorktown, and many individual volunteers.
Nationally, the Center for Common Ground reports that Reclaim Our Vote (ROV) distributed more than 1.4 million voter addresses to postcard writers for the 2026 general election.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped turn our Social Justice and UU the Vote commitments into 7,590 handwritten messages to Virginia voters.
