In this service, Tret Fure will be talking about and singing about the importance of DEI in our lives, especially in these difficult times.
Tret Fure’s award-winning career spans 55 years, releasing 18 albums in that time. She has garnered such honors as receiving the 2023 Phil Ochs award for her outstanding contributions to social and political justice through her music, winning the South Florida Folk Festival Singer/Songwriter Competition in 2 out of 3 categories, the prestigious Jane Schliessman Award for Outstanding Contributions to Women’s Music, a Posi Award for her song “In This Circle,” as well as taking second place in the “Musicians United To Protect Bristol Bay” song contest with her song “The Fishermen of Bristol Bay” from her 15th CD Rembrandt Afternoons. These are just a few of the many accolades and recognition that Tret has received through the years. Fure also performs special music and “Sermon as Song” in UU congregations and spiritual centers across the country. While not on the road, Tret teaches guitar and songwriting individually and in workshop settings. An accomplished cook, Fure has also published a cookbook, Tret's Kitchen. Plus, she paints pet portraits on commission! Along with bridging the marketing, production, music, and art worlds, Tret served for 6 years as President of Local 1000, The Traveling Musicians Association--a union geared toward helping traveling musicians find security and longevity.
