WUU’s Fall Faith Development Program
Two new Faith Development initiatives are happening at WUU this fall—the Faith Forward course, UU History 101, to begin after Sunday services October 5, and the Wellspring course, “Love at the Center: UU Values and Covenants,” being offered now by Rev. Jude as two separate classes.
“Love at the Center” classes required registration but are no longer open, having reached maximum size, with about 10 percent of WUU members participating in these fall sessions. However, the same curriculum will be offered in the new year for others interested in participating. These “Love at the Center” sessions focus on the values UUs hold that are centered around love: justice, equity, transformation, pluralism, interdependence, and generosity.
UU History 101 begins in October 5 and continues on varied Sundays into December. Sessions focus on UUs important to our history that exemplify values we still consider important. (See article below.)
In addition, a number of adult classes continue—A Course in Miracles and Qigong—and a number of small group ministries continue through Soul Matters. As always, WUU’s membership team offers Starting Point several times a year for those wanting to learn more about Unitarian Universalism and WUU. WUUs also participate in the Williamsburg Buddhist Sangha, attending (and leading) several meditation or study groups held each week (https://williamsburgbuddhistsangha.org/).

New Series:
Six sessions of UU History—Sundays at 11:30, starting Oct. 5
Beginning Oct. 5, a series of UU History 101 sessions will be offered after Sunday services. These hour-long classes will be facilitated by Rev. Jude and members of the Faith Development Team. Each session is focused on individuals from our history and structured around themes such as conscience, resilience, or being called, rather than organized chronologically.
Each class includes a short video of information, additional information provided by Rev. Jude and the team, and discussion from participants. Classes are adapted from the “Faith Forward” curriculum, prepared and taught by ministerial staff from the First Unitarian Church of Dallas (one of UU’s largest congregations of more than 1000 members).
Everyone is welcome—new members, visitors, youth, long-time members, whoever is interested in knowing more about our faith. You do not need to register and may attend a few or all classes, depending on your interest.
All classes are in the sanctuary after Sunday services from 11:30 – 12:30.
