December President’s Report

by Helen Hansen, WUU Board President

I hope you can all feel the energy and excitement at WUU since Rev. Jude joined us in August. The WUU calendar for the holiday season is packed full of opportunities for fun, reflection, and gratitude. Your presence is always welcome and appreciated.

  • We welcomed our new Director of Religious Education, Robin Wootton, last month. She is enthusiastically engaging with families and teachers. Please contact her if you would like to volunteer with our youth program for preschool, lower elementary, or upper elementary.

  • WUU hosted the Community of Faith Mission Emergency Winter Shelter November 23-December 7. The first week we donated our building and the second week provided volunteers along with space. Thank you to all who participated. Our hospitality was much appreciated by our guests, but the larger social justice issue remains. Food and shelter are basic human needs that a responsible society would make available to all.

  • The Board will be working with Stewardship and Finance to find ways to share our building with the wider community in order to market our space as well as express our UU values. Strategic financial planning is needed to ensure the future of WUU.

Happy Holidays to all from the WUU Board.

From the WUU vision statement: “We grow in spiritual transformation through faith development and worship, fully engage with each other and those with we work in local, UU, and global communities.”
