Ending Hunger One Step at a Time
“The crop walk began in 1947 when farmers were asked to donate food and seeds to our hungry neighbors in post World War II Europe and Asia. The first CROP Hunger Walks took place in Bismarck, North Dakota (1969), and York, PA (1970). Since then, CROP Hunger Walk events have been held in hundreds of communities, large and small, raising millions of dollars to eradicate hunger and poverty.” ~ From the CROP Hunger Walk website
The UUFP has been involved the CROP Hunger Walk for several years, and we need your continued support. You’re welcome to participate in whatever way works best for you—donate and walk, donate without walking, or simply join us for the walk. We’ll begin at 1209 Country Club Rd on Sunday, October 19, and follow a route that passes near Shoe Lane and the CNU campus. The walk covers approximately 3 miles, but there is no pressure to complete the entire distance. If the weather turns unfavorable, feel free to decide whether or not you’d like to walk.
You can register and learn more about the walk at https://events.crophungerwalk.org/crophungerwalks.
Or, make a donation at our UUFP Food Drive page at https://events.crophungerwalk.org/crophungerwalks/uufp-food-drive.
You can also ask any member of the Food Bank Crew for more information.
Please help us support feeding people around the world.
And a big thank you for continuing to support our local food bank.
