WUU’s Green Book Club

Book: Nature’s Best Hope, by Douglas W. Tallamy

Next meeting: Sunday, October 5, 2025 at 11:30 a.m.
Little Sanctuary, with brief walkabout possible afterwards

Looking for a way you can make a difference in these troubling times?  There are so many huge problems that just seem beyond the scope of individuals to affect that it’s really empowering to find ways that we can actually help.

Our goal in starting this new book club is to find those solutions, explore options, and generally learn about the environmental issues of our times, with a focus on finding positive actions we can take.

To that end, our first book is Doug Tallamy’s Nature’s Best Hope, the genesis for the new Homegrown National Park movement. In this book, Tallamy shows us that there IS a way, in our own yards or even on our patios or balconies, that we can help avert, or at least mitigate, the declining numbers of birds and insects. Following his suggestions, you will literally see visible results all around you.

We read the first half of this book last month. Now we’ll be finishing our discussion and looking ahead to decide what our next read will be.

Come on Sunday, October 5th at 11:30 a.m., ready to discuss this excellent and hopeful book. (If you weren’t able to read the book before the meeting, come anyway! We’ll see if we can’t whet your appetite to crack it open….) We’ll hope to see you then!
