Membership

Everyone is welcome to worship with us and participate in our programs-including friends, visitors, and non-members. Members readily and generously give their time, talents and financial resources towards fulfillment of the congregational mission-because they want to....because this is their chosen faith home. This spirit of commitment and generosity develops over time, and is the result of active participation in our programs.  The following documents will help.

Williamsburg Unitarian Universalists Covenant

"A Chosen Faith, an Introduction to Unitarian Universalism at Williamsburg UU"

If you are interested in Membership in WUU, join our ministers and members of our congregation for "A Chosen Faith, an Introduction to Unitarian Universalism at Williamsburg UU"

The Orientation series is held three times a year. The first session is usually at the home of our ministers Jennifer Ryu and Preston Moore. The following two sessions are at the church after the Sunday services. This is a great opportunity to learn more about Unitarian Universalism and what WUU has to offer! Lunch is served and childcare can be provided.

 The outline for each session is briefly as follows:

  • Session one: Our Beliefs - What beliefs are you seeking in a religious community; and a Ministerial discussion of the UU history, sources, and principles;
  • Session two: Our Values - What values are you seeking in a religious community; and a leadership discussion of UU Lifespan Faith Development and values, as well as our own WUU Covenant and Mission;
  • Session three: Your Spiritual Needs and Growth - How can you attend to your own spiritual needs and growth; and a leadership discussion of the role of worship and the three "T's" - time, talent, and treasure - in the life of the WUU congregation.

Any individual is eligible for membership as long as he or she is prepared to join other members in assuming responsibility for the mission, vision, and financial health of the congregation. Are you prepared? If you are you may download the following file and print out a copy to fill out the forms at your convenience and return them when you sign the Membership Book. If you have any questions please call 757-220-6830 or email membership@wuu.org with your questions.
